recreational diving courses

At Technical Diving Mallorca, recreational diving is the beginning of a serious and progressive journey.
We train divers with control, judgment, and a technical mindset from day one.
No crash courses here: you truly learn, at your own pace and with clear objectives.

SDI Open Water Diver

This is the entry-level course in autonomous diving. You will learn everything necessary to dive safely in open water: diving theory, equipment setup and use, buoyancy techniques, environmental awareness, and basic emergency procedures. We combine online learning, pool sessions, and four open water dives.

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 18 years (or 10 with parental consent)
  • Ability to swim comfortably
  • Completion of the online theory course

Once certified

You will be qualified to perform no-decompression dives up to 18 meters, accompanied by another certified diver, in conditions similar to those of the training. This is the foundation for any advanced or specialized diving education.

SDI Advanced Buoyancy Diver

Precise buoyancy control is one of the most important skills for any serious diver. This course is designed to refine your body control in the water, optimize gas consumption, protect the underwater environment, and improve your overall comfort underwater. It’s ideal before progressing to technical or deep diving.

Requirements

  • SDI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent)

Once certified

You will have perfected your ability to maintain neutral buoyancy in a controlled and efficient manner, significantly improving safety, performance, and environmental conservation. It is a key foundation for advancing to technical levels.

SDI Rescue Diver + Emergency First Response

The Rescue Diver course is one of the most demanding and valuable in a diver’s journey. It trains the diver to recognize, prevent, and manage emergency situations both on the surface and underwater, enhancing autonomy, leadership, and preparedness for real-life accidents. It includes CPR, first aid, and oxygen administration training.

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 18 years (15 with parental consent)
  • SDI Open Water Diver certification
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification (can be combined in this course)

Once certified

You will be qualified to effectively assist in diving emergencies, both in controlled and real-world environments. This certification is fundamental for those wishing to become responsible divers or progress to professional levels such as Divemaster or Instructor.

SDI Deep Diver

This specialized course extends the recreational diving limit to 40 meters depth. It covers critical aspects such as safe planning, gas consumption, narcosis management, using additional equipment, and emergency protocols at depth. It is ideal for those looking to explore wrecks, vertical walls, or technical environments.

Requirements

  • SDI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum age: 18 years (15 with parental consent)

Once certified

You will be authorized to perform recreational dives without decompression down to 40 meters. This level of training is essential to access many deeper environments and is a mandatory step before transitioning to technical diving.

SDI Drysuit Diver

Designed for those who wish to dive in cold waters or for prolonged periods, this course teaches the safe and efficient use of drysuits, including buoyancy control techniques, maintenance, suit selection, and emergency management for this type of equipment.

Requirements

  • SDI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum age: 18 years (12 with parental consent)

Once certified

Estarás capacitado para realizar inmersiones con traje seco en condiciones de baja temperatura o inmersiones prolongadas, con control total de flotabilidad y seguridad. Es una habilidad esencial para buceadores que operan en entornos templados o fríos durante todo el año.

SDI Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Diver

This course introduces the diver to the use of Diver Propulsion Vehicles (DPVs), allowing long-distance coverage with greater efficiency and less gas consumption. Topics include planning, maintenance, navigation, maneuvering, and managing emergencies related to scooter use.

Requirements

  • SDI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum age: 18 years (15 with parental consent)

Once certified

You will be able to use underwater propulsion vehicles safely and efficiently, significantly expanding your exploration range. This certification is ideal for divers wanting to access distant wrecks, large areas, or difficult-to-reach spots.
